Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly did not submit a recent report on pay for student nurses and midwives to the Cabinet for approval today, according to sources in his Department.
The report by Professor Tom Collins recommended a €100 per week Pandemic Placement Grant should be paid to up to 4,500 student nurses during clinical placements.
Last night sources had confirmed that Mr Donnelly would be bringing the report to this morning’s Cabinet meeting.
However, sources said that at the last minute it had been decided to hold off on presenting the Collins Report to the Government.
They said this was to allow more time for terms of reference of a longer-term review of student nurses’ pay and conditions to be finalised.
