Water Charges

Certainly it costs money to provide drinkable water … everyone accepts that … but …
National annoyance:
A subvention payment of €439m made to the semi-State utility company last year was being drawn from what is known as the Local Government Fund.
• Again this year clarity is required: (a) Is the subvention payment supposed to cover the Water Charges (b) Why should we pay twice for water (c) Not everyone has a car, yet “Two thirds of the money diverted to Irish Water came from your motor tax” (d) ‘Top dollar’ salaries are paid to Irish Water executives who appear to need to spend vast €millions to external Irish Water consultants for expertise that should be part of their job specifications/qualifications.
