Met Eireann forecast for Wednesday 11th: Cold and windy with bright spells and scattered showers. The showers will fall as rain or hail initially but will turn increasingly to sleet and snow later in the day with some settling of snow possible on hills by evening. Afternoon temperatures will range from 5 to 8 degrees in a strong to gale force westerly wind, strongest along exposed coasts.
