TEAM HOPE is an Irish charity that sends thousands of gift-filled shoeboxes to deprived children in Africa and Eastern Europe.
Ardcarne Garden Centre has undertaken to be the Co. Roscommon hub for the shoebox appeal. So far, the volunteers have checked and completed almost 1500 boxes, and there are at least another 2500 to be ‘sorted’, and packed, ready for distribution to the needy children before Christmas. Each box must contain the 4 W’s — something to Wash with, something to Wear, something to Write with and something to Wow the children with.
• The boxes have come in from members of the public and through the schools. It is a very worthy charity, and must surely give great joy to the children who receive them.
• Further information about the charity can be got from their website www.teamhope.ie
