Royal Hotel site – the future
Roscommon Co Council is finalising plans for what it will do with the Royal Hotel building and grounds as part of its “Boyle 2040” regeneration programme.
A Council source confirmed draft plans suggest that subject to detail changes, the facade and the 3 storey building will be kept. The bar as well as the bedroom suite on the side of the river will be demolished, giving pedestrian access to a new paved / park-type development linking to the current Roscommon Co Co car park beside the Post Office and further on to the Pleasure Grounds.
It is not clear yet what remedial works will be done to the three storey building or the sheds on the Shop Street side at the back of the building.
The full “Boyle 2040” regeneration programme will be available and on public display by the end of March or asap.
