Saturday 22nd April: Boyle native Padraig Sweeney, Sydney, Australia, is a director in a very successful company LandEscape Pty Ltd. Padraig declares himself a “proud supporter of Boyle GAA from Australia”. At a specially convened ceremony in the GAA Clubrooms, Boyle minor board chairman Jim McGrath and club chairperson Kathleen Hanmore were delighted to accept a $5,000 cheque from Padraig which will help develop underage Boyle GAA teams and developments. Padraig’s father-in-law Brendan O’Connor (Sarah O’Connor is Padraig’s wife) presented the cheque and in his address emphasised Padraig’s gratitude to the club with special reference to Tony Conboy for his encouragement through the years.
