Organ Donor Awareness Week 2016, 2nd to 9th April.
Organ recipients: Gina Lenehan (heart transplant) Paddy O’Mahoney (lung recipient) Gordon Ryan (double lung recipient)
Local man Gordon Ryan received a double lung transplant in 2013 as a consequence of Cystic Fibrosis. Last Tuesday, Gordon gave a speech at the National Launch of Organ Donor Awareness Week in the Mansion House. There were other presentations also from people who underwent heart, liver and kidney transplants. Also there were the donor family of Karen Powell from Gurteen who died in a car crash last November.
