• The Human Head Exhibition: Congratulations to the Abbey Cummunity College students who took part in the exhibition launch in Carrick-on-Shannon last week. Art pupils of the college’s  Aengus Martin have incredible sculptures on display for the public to enjoy until January 14th.
• Devin Finneran’s Bungee Jump: The Bloukrans Bungee Jump is the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. “I had the opportunity to bungee off this bridge as I was travelling along the Garden Route, how could I not take it?” [read more here…]

Joan Burke R.I.P.

“Joan Burke was one of the finest politicians of her generation”. Senator Frank Feighan has paid tribute to former Fine Gael TD, Joan Burke, who has passed away. “In a 17 year political career, she served the people of Roscommon and Leitrim with distinction. That proud record of retaining her seat in the 5 elections she contested was testament to her reputation as a politician who worked extremely hard for people and local communities.” Arrangements to follow …


Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Awards

Wednesday 30th November: The judging of Boyle’s entry in the Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Awards.
Three independent judges will visit the town and meet with the applicants – Boyle Town Team and Boyle Chamber of Commerce – along with members of the community. Marks in the competition will be awarded for innovation, leadership, sustainability, partnership, social inclusion, pro activity and a sense of energy.
