Garda Mountain Bike patrols will begin shortly
Garda officers are trained in using various skills that will allow them to patrol towns, estates as well as policing at community events, and off-terrain areas like running or cycling tracks. A senior garda officer says the mountain bike gardai have the advantage of being mobile enough to respond quickly to events, or to simply engage with the public who have concerns.
Trained Mountain Bike Gardai will be stationed in the Castlerea District stations Boyle, Ballaghaderreen and Castlerea
