‘Hairspray’ is a wonderful lighthearted modern musical for all the family. The 2007 film version featured John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken. With music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman and a book by Mark O’Donnell & Thomas Meehan, the songs include 1960s-style dance music and downtown Rhythm & Blues. It promises to be a spectacular show, full of vibrant colour, great acting and well knows songs such as ‘Good Morning Baltimore’, ’Mama, I’m A Big Girl Now’ and ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’.

The local cast of ‘Hairspray’, numbering 34, features the usual mix of new and familiar faces. They have been rehearsing since early September and together with the production team and committee, they are confident that Hairspray will be a spectacular and memorable musical treat, when it hits the stage in a few weeks time!
