Boyle Harbour/Canal was completed by Waterways Ireland in May 2001. The project involved a 1.3km new cut canal and a harbour to accommodate up to 28 boats as well as parking space, service block and footpaths linking the harbour to Boyle and Boyle River. Boyle River flows into Lough Key which then flows into the River Shannon.
