Launch of Siobhan Berry’s Baby & Family; Cook for family, adapt for baby recipe book.
Siobhan Berry has become synonymous with weaning and feeding recipes and advice throughout Ireland. In her highly anticipated first book, Siobhan lays out all her advice and recipes that she has curated through her years of experience in teaching weaning classes and running her website MummyCooks.com. She has finally released her long awaited first book Baby and Family: Cook for Family, Adapt for Baby.
Siobhan’s journey began in January 2012, when she set up Mummy Cooks as the first baby weaning cookery school in Ireland. It was her mission to aid mums in establishing healthy eating habits, by empowering and educating them about weaning with homemade, nutritious food. Since then, her website has provided delicious home-cooked recipes and practical advice on feeding problems to countless mums across the world.
As the site’s reputation has subsequently grown, so has the Mummy Cooks brand. It is now an international online business offering advice, recipes and award-winning feeding and weaning products. As a result of the high esteem she holds in the parent community, her recipe book has been hotly anticipated.
Siobhan’s ethos means that healthy eating does not have to be difficult. She understands just how busy mums truly are, and therefore all of her recipes are simple, nutritious and easy to fit in to a chaotic family schedule. She is an advocate of batch cooking, often sharing helpful tips on how to freeze batch cooked meals in order to ease the workload at dinnertime. She ensures that the majority of her recipes are adaptable for a baby, and she provides suggestions on how to turn each family meal into food for weaning infants.
Her new book is compiled of simple, delicious and nutritious recipes, along with the expert advice on feeding, weaning and combating fussy eaters that readers have come to rely on from Siobhan. Her positive attitude has eased many mums’ anxieties about the weaning process. While research conducted by MummyPages shows that 69% of Irish mums worry about raising a fussy eater, Siobhan hopes her book can combat this fear. As a worried mum once herself, she admits “having come from a financial background, weaning was incredibly daunting to me too at first. My love for cooking and healthy eating was reawakened after having my first daughter and I haven’t looked back since! As a mum, I know that feeding small children can sometimes be difficult, frustrating and anxiety-inducing and at Mummy Cooks we aim to give mums and dads the confidence and know-how needed to raise adventurous eaters, who , in turn, will have a life-long appreciation for good food.”
Recognising all of the support Siobhan received when bringing her two girls, Ashleigh and Jessica, into the world, she will donate 10% of the sale of all books to the National Maternity Hospital Foundation, Holles St. Dublin. On the 13th March, she met with Master Dr. Rhona Mahony at the National Maternity Hospital to celebrate this connection between Baby and Family: Cook for Baby, Adapt for Family, and the NMH Foundation. Siobhan was incredibly honoured to receive Dr.Rhona Mahony’s support, who kindly said of the book: “Introducing your baby to solid foods is a new adventure, and one with plenty of thrills and spills. Siobhan’s guide to weaning and her tasty recipes, will help every new parent embark on this stage of development with ease and confidence”.
