‘I will be seeking a Fine Gael nomination to contest the next General Election’ – Feighan

Frank Feighan TD

“In my work as a Senator since my appointment by the Taoiseach in May 2016, I have been truly overwhelmed by the ongoing support and goodwill shown to me. It’s clear that more and more people want me to continue to build on my long track record of delivery as an Oireachtas member since 2002 and as a TD for 9 years over that period.
It’s clear that more and more people want me to continue to build on my long track record of delivery as an Oireachtas member since 2002 and as a TD for 9 years over that period. I also feel fully vindicated over the stance I took in relation to Roscommon Hospital. Consultants have gone on the public record that the hospital is now much safer as a result of the changes which have taken place there. A €20m capital investment programme taking place along with a range of other services which have been introduced means that Roscommon Hospital is much busier and its long-term future has been guaranteed. Jobs have been protected and with the ongoing investment, further jobs will be created at the hospital.
I do believe that more and more people are beginning to appreciate the good work which is happening at the hospital and that is one of the reasons why I feel re-energised politically.
My intention to seek a party nomination to contest the next election has not been taken lightly. I want to continue the work of ensuring this region gets its fair share and that is why I will be seeking a nomination when the time comes.”
