Over 1000 Community Pharmacies now administrating Covid 19 Vaccines – Feighan
Minister of State at the Department of Health and local TD for Sligo / Leitrim, Frank Feighan, has welcomed the involvement of local pharmacies in the rollout of the covid-19 vaccine programme.
Speaking on the issue, Minister Feighan said, “From today, over 1000 local pharmacies across Ireland are now taking part in the rollout of the covid 19 vaccine programme”
“Pharmacies across the country will begin delivering the Janssen single-dose vaccine from today. The vaccines will be available for people aged over 50 years of age who have not yet received their vaccine”, said Minster Feighan.
People do not need to register online for the vaccine service in the pharmacy but they will need to book a vaccine appointment with their participating pharmacy.
Feighan continued, “The rollout of the covid-19 vaccine has really picked up over the past number of weeks. As of Wednesday, 9th of June, 3.1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered.
2.1 million people in Ireland have received their first dose, this is 57% of the adult population, and over 26% of the adult population has received both vaccines.
“The participation of our pharmacies has now opened up a new stage in the vaccine rollout
