The feeling shared by many was “Isn’t it great to see Mattimoe’s Bar open again … it’s like the good old days are back again”. The iconic town-centre bar reopened to a Full House. The new juke box gently played, the new pool table produced its familiar ‘click-click’, the glowing fire, happy customer chatter as Joe and Barry expertly poured creamy pints of Guinness (and other libations) were in some way a ceremonial move away from thoughts of austerity and recession. Yes, Mattimoe’s Bar open again and reclaiming its position as one of Boyle’s very fine businesses … long may it thrive!!
