Happy 90th Birthday Patsy Quinn
16th March 1932, Boyle resident Patrick V. Quinn was born. Patsy was and is a man ahead of his time and did more for Boyle than most during his 90 years. His Nire factory on the former St. Patrick’s Hall site gave employment to over 30 locals. Nire was a leading manufacturer of shelving for the then-new Supermarket shops.
Nire, and Patsy also manufactured ‘beach-type’ tubular seating and for a time was an innovator in the Aluminium and double glazing window business.
Visitors to the Doon Shore during the sixties will remember noting Patsy as a great long-distance swimmer.
Boyle Church choir was blessed having Patsy’s great voice, and a personal favourite of mine was his Christmas duets with the late Rosaleen Moran, particularly their memorable performances of “Oh Holy Night”
Happy Birthday to you Patsy …
