Diarmuid Sutton National Swimming Champion.
Tony Conboy wrote: Diarmuid Sutton, former Boyle under-age GAA player and son of Len and Dara became the Irish National U 16 50 metre freestyle swimming champion winning gold at the Irish National Swimming C’Ships last week. The ‘meet’ took place in the National Aquatic Centre Dublin. Diarmuid’s family lived in Carrickmore, Boyle and he got involved in swimming at a young age. His dad Len was a popular and active officer of Boyle minor GAA Club for a number of years. The family moved to Limerick where Diarmuid could utilise top class swimming facilities there. It has obviously paid off as with the 50 metre gold Diarmuid also won a silver in the U 16 100m freestyle. So it looks like Boyle will have a strong connection to an emerging swimming star and Boyle GAA and the many friends of Diarmuid and the Sutton family wish him every success.
