The future for Boyle “The town we love so well”

The future for Boyle “The town we love so well”

An edition of RTE TV “Eco Eye” was shown again recently. Sadly Boyle was represented by images of derelict buildings and interviews expressing views that ‘big’ plans are in place for Boyle’s future. The latter is very good news. When money has been spent and plans become a reality the appearance of the town will have been greatly enhanced.
• Sadly, two major issues remain … 1. There does not appear to be anyone interested in building an hotel. 2. All plans are for cosmetic upgrades, but none that I am aware of for attracting industry and its consequent employment. Hopefully, the ‘behind the scenes’ brigade know stuff, but are not sharing the information with Boyle residents.
• Drumshanbo is a smaller town with well-publicised tourist attractions and a population of less than 1,000. It has an hotel, outdoor heated swimming pool and a Food Hub that can boast of its highly-regarded tenants/product producers Chef in a Box, McNiffes Bakery, The Cheese Hub, The Shed Distillery, Bo Peep Preserves, Blakes Always Organic and on a closeby location Jinny’s Bakery.
